Full-Stack Software Engineer

About the Role

Pictorus is looking for a talented software engineer with skills across a range of languages and frameworks. This is a senior-level position, where you will be given broad latitude to design and implement technical solutions across our software stack.

Ideally, a candidate for this position is equally comfortable in Typescript and Python. They would also have experience designing, implementing, and supporting AWS architectures, both traditional workflows as well as serverless implementations. Bonus points for developers who love to program their own devices (Arduinos, Jetsons, Pis, etc).

An ideal candidate would be in the 5-10 years of experience range. Job Requirements
Ability to work in the US (no sponsorship at this time)
Experience developing UIs in either VueJs (preferred) or React (acceptable)
Experience developing production backend services in Python and NodeJs Preferred
SF Bay area resident (we’re hybrid remote/onsite from Oakland, CA)
Expert Typescript developer
Experience developing NodeJS Backends
Experience developing production applications in Rust
AWS blackbelt
Familiarity with device-level coding (Arduinos, Jetsons, Pis, etc) $150,000 – $180,000 a year
A candidate on the lower end of the salary range will be a recently-minted senior engineer, comfortable owning major projects with sufficient high-level guidance. A candidate on the higher end of the salary range will have been a senior engineer before, and strong enough in TypeScript services that they can not only own major projects and mentor junior engineers, but also architect and propose strategic technical initiatives to the CTO. Pictorus is a software startup based in Oakland, California. People say “hardware is hard,” but it’s often the software interface that makes working with devices so challenging. This is the problem, faced by hardware developers all over the world, that we are out to solve. We’ve been building robotic/vehicle software for over 20 years combined – for NASA, the DoD, and drone startups Saildrone, DroneDeploy, and Matternet.

We want to make this technology approachable to everyone passionate about electronics, whether professionally, for personal projects, or university research. It shouldn’t require a PhD or decades of software engineering experience to program powerful device software.
