Social Media Manager

We are seeking a new Social Media Manager to join Saga Cruise. Here you will own the transformation of our Cruise social presence through delivery of our new social communication and content strategy.

As the Social Media Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the organic social media strategy, we are seeking a colleague who will manage our online Saga Cruise community, adopting our Saga brand and tone of voice to directly engage in dialogue with our Saga Cruise Customers and actively managing social media community responses. You will be a whizz with the use of Facebook and Instagram, with a knowledge of Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube for the purposes of communicating with our online audiences.

Alongside this, you’ll be responsible for owning the implementation of organic social media activity and content, from ideating and creating posts to scheduling content across our organic social networks. You will be the champion of social content through the entire Cruise business ensuring your team is first to know about developments and telling the story to our community. You will have a love for reporting too, able to produce, analyse and articulate data to determine the performance of our content and our performance against competitors.

Ultimately, you will be the Cruise brand champion with a terrific eye for engaging content. A natural storyteller – creative and technical.

You’ll be responsible for supporting the team by planning activity and collaborating with key stakeholders to achieve objectives, as well as with creative teams to support output and ensure that messaging is aligned.

  • You will be required to visit the London or Ashford Hub twice a week, the rest of the week you can work from home. You must be within a reasonable commuting distance to attend a hub.

Role Responsibility:

Our Social Media Manager reports to the Head of Digital for Saga Cruise and will line manage a Social Media Executive, to be recruited once you join the digital team. You will be fully responsible for;

  • Leading and overseeing the transformation of our Cruise social presence through delivery of our new social communication and content strategy.
  • Fully owning the relationship with external creative, media agencies and ship photography team, briefing them on content creation and development, providing them with Social Media knowledge and expertise, and invoicing where appropriate.
  • Building an active, thriving and engaged Saga Cruise community both on our owned channels and the customer groups.
  • Participating in events with our online community to help grow the organic social channels and boost brand awareness, including live social sessions.
  • Able to suggest ideas for new means of engaging with online communities based on performance, whether new content ideas or tactics such as regular competitions or live sessions.
  • Management and prioritisation of the organic social plans across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
  • Managing the source of UGC from customers and Influencer activity, sourcing, negotiating, contracting, and managing their outputs on behalf of Cruise.
  • Liaise with Marketing, Design and Paid Media teams, sharing best practice, engagement trends and aligning organic and paid plans.
  • Responsible for creation of regular community management reports, weekly performance reports and monthly progression reports to the business, implementing learnings.
  • Championing social media within the business and continually looking for new ways to optimise social media for Saga as a whole.

The Ideal Candidate:

Our Social Media Manager will need to be able to demonstrate they have previously grown an online community and be passionate about Luxury Cruise and Travel. They will have previously devised and developed a social media strategy for a big consumer brand. Able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Working knowledge of key social tools including social media management tools, social listening tools (e.g. Hootsuite) and web analytic tools like Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics.
  • Strong copywriting skills, able to write in brand social tone of voice and tailor responses to social network. (Exceptional grammar and attention to detail.)
  • A creative flair for design and visual styling that appeals to the audience.
  • An analytical mind, that can turn performance into meaningful insights that can show the wider business the efficacy of the cruise social media communication strategy.
  • A passion for social media and keeping up with the trends. Keen to drive our cruise communication strategy to new levels.
  • Be a highly organised manager who can deliver work across multiple initiatives simultaneously, with a structured approach to decision making.
  • Have at least 5+ years’ experience in a social media position agency or client side, or a mix of both.
