Project Manager

Working with the Head of Transitions, the role will be responsible for overseeing and leading a complex, high value grant funded project using best project management standards and practices in line with funder requirements. The post holder will be experienced in achieving results and being accountable for project delivery on time, on budget and of quality via contributions from internal team outside your direct management line and, from 3rd party sub-contracted partnerships.

Aligning with Climate Bonds Project Management Framework and processes, including proposing process and workflow improvements, this role will also lead on the project governance processes including managing and mitigating risks and ensuring learning informs adaptive project management.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Oversight of project workplan development, including scope, objectives, timelines and resource requirements in partnership with resource managers and domain experts.
  • Ensuring timely and effective response to proposed changes in scope, timeline and budget, assessing potential impacts to project objectives and develop actions to address changes.
  • Ensure plans and tracker in place to manage expenditure within budget, ensuring accurate and timely expensing and tracking to enable finance reporting.
  • Lead the coordination and motivation of internal teams outside of management line and a 3rd party sub-grantee organisation to effectively plan, co-create and share expertise to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Ensure RACI matrix in place, understood and adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Responsible for maintaining the RAID log and associated actions and status reporting internally. Is responsible for ensuring plans, progress, delivery, and RAIDs of 3rd party sub-contractor are transparent, tracked and reported upon.
  • Lead project governance and accountability processes, ensuring SLT are up-to-date and project decisions are made effectively and efficiently.
  • Partner and advance plan with internal resource managers to ensure the project is adequately resourced. Working through challenges in a nimble considerate way in partnership to adapt and creatively solution to ensure project deliveries are met, anticipating in advance areas requiring support and steer.
  • Oversee the implementation of the project level Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework in partnership and with support from the MEL lead, to track and measure progress and support learning and reflection.
  • Working closely with the Head of Transitions and technical experts, maintain up to date knowledge on technical project issues, for example knowledge and understanding of trends in financing methane abatement.
  • Develops credibility through self-driven learning of subject matter, project management skill set, the organisation and Climate Bonds Mission.
  • Partner with domain owners to ensure quality of project deliverables, factoring into the plan how this will be achieved to optimise ways of working.
  • Any other duties as required to fulfil the requirements of the role

Requirements:

  • Previous project management experience in the not-for-profit sector
  • Excellent track record of matrix managing complex large scale (USD 1m+) multi-year projects throughout the project lifecycle as well as project governance and oversight including effective risk management.
  • Excellent track record of working as a project manager in a non-profit setting.
  • Experience of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning processes in a large-scale project.
  • Experience in using project management software and tools e.g. Microsoft, ClickUp, Monday.com, Asana.
