Java Developer

Location: 100% Remote

Overview: Every Turnberry consultant aligns with a practice, an internal group of consultants and leaders with shared experience and expertise. Each of these practices aligns with one of the eight core services Turnberry offers to clients. As a Java Developer, you will join Turnberry’s Product Design & Development practice and consult in the Digital Transformation service. Turnberry’s Digital Transformation service provides strategy and implementation consulting to help organizations adopt modern technology to excel in today’s digitally-driven market; in the Product Design and Development practice, we leverage modern technology to design and build awesome cloud-native applications.

Responsibilities

• Rapid development of prototypes/concepts along with regular development
• Experienced with agile development and a champion of software development best practices
• Contribute to our 2024 goals for enhancing the Commerce platform
• Design, code, test, and provide tier 5 engineering support for the Commerce platform and related software
• Help us monetize on third-party application products and services offered

Qualifications

• Must be self-motivated, and ability to work independently, fast learner, pays attention to detail
• Ability to think like an architect, produce high quality code
• Understanding of Service Oriented Architectures
• Use TDD and ATDD, using Cucumber-Jvm, ScalaTest
• Must be able to build REST services from the ground up
• Technologies: Scala 2.11, Http4s, Play2, Akka, Kafka, ELK, Scalaz, Hadoop, Apache Spark, Amazon Web Service (Lambda, S3, Kinesis, SQS)
• Strong in OOP & Functional paradigm
• Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, engineering, management information systems or combination of education and equivalent working experience
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in Scala
• Strong software design skills and knowledge of design patterns
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and associated tools (Jira)

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $160,000 or the hourly equivalent.
