About the Role:
We are seeking a talented Geospatial ML Solutions Engineer to join our growing European presence. This role reports to the Head of AI Research (AIR) and works cross-functionally with Atlas AI’s global Software Engineering and Applied Data Science teams. Your mission is to design, develop, and implement innovative geospatial solutions for our internal and external customers across various industries. You will access proprietary, cutting-edge AI/ML models and CV technology, and develop end-to-end workflows to generate product-ready deliverables. You will interface with peer software engineers, domain experts, data scientists, machine learning engineers, product designers, and product marketers. You will work at the intersection of our leading AI research activities and software engineering to advance our product roadmap.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement geospatial solutions: Analyze customer needs, design custom solutions leveraging our proprietary tech stack, licensed tools, data analysis techniques, and spatial modeling
Data management and processing: Ingest, clean, process, analyze and manage large geospatial datasets from various sources (remote sensing, mobility, financial, etc.)
AI/ML: assemble application-specific training data sets, train and deploy proprietary and open AI/ML models, evaluate model performance and output quality, deploy at production scale
Cloud: Architect scalable and serverless means of deploying your solutions that bring together assets within and across cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure)
QA: Develop thorough validation and Quality Assurance protocols to benchmark and assure robustness of solutions
Create technical documentation: Develop clear and concise documentation for implemented solutions, including performance benchmarks, user guides, technical specifications, and training materials
Collaborate with internal teams and external clients: Communicate technical details effectively, understand client needs, and provide expert guidance
Stay abreast of emerging technologies: Continuously research and learn about new geospatial technologies and best practices
Contribute to the development of company’s geospatial products and services
What you’ll bring:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related field,
Three or more years of work experience as a Backend Software Engineer deploying Data Science and/or Machine Learning workflows and pipelines in the cloud as serverless applications (e.g. GCP Cloud Run) or orchestrated workflows (e.g. Airflow, Argo),
Technical ownership of key areas of a Product, such as a critical service,
Demonstrable experience with Python, PyTorch, OpenCV, (Geo-) Pandas, scikit-learn, GDAL, Github, Docker,
Demonstrable experience with deployment of image segmentation / object detection algorithms
Self-starter attitude, comfortable working independently and in an entrepreneurial, start-up environment; thrives in high-trust environments with minimal resources/backing
Exceptional interpersonal communication, both written and oral, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Intellectual curiosity and and desire to contribute across cultures in a dynamic global environment
Experiences that are big pluses:
Working knowledge of C++
Deploying geospatial libraries at scale for user-facing applications
Experience with building distributed computing infrastructure flexible for both on-demand and batch processing
Developing enterprise SaaS products
Developing on Google Cloud Platform

Salary range for candidates depending upon level of experience and location: €60,000 – €80,000
Interview Process:
Following the initial application screening, selected candidates will be invited for:
Step 1: an initial call with the hiring manager (45′)
Step 2: technical interview(s) (45′ each) evaluating your skills in software engineering & cloud deployment, familiarity with machine learning and computer vision, and geospatial data analytics. and alignment with company values and culture
Step 3: a take away (1-week-long) exercise in which you will be challenged to develop an end-to-end solution for a mock customer request
Step 4: panel discussion: an exercise walk-through to discuss/evaluate your experience and performance
Step 5: receiving an offer letter upon successful completion/conclusion of all the above
