Cyber Security Engineer

Packback is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to support our mission to awaken and fuel the lifelong curiosity in every student. This position will work directly alongside the CTO to mature the company’s security profile. This role is suitable for a hands-on leader who is enthusiastic to collaborate to drive our security roadmap and also roll up their sleeves as a hands-on implementor.

Packback’s A.I.-powered platform is used by educators in K-12 and higher education to help their students fall in love with the subject matter, drive personalized learning, and most importantly, quantify and improve student critical thinking skills.

Key Job Duties Include:

  • Develop and implement security controls, policies, and procedures to protect our networks, systems, and data.
  • Leverage your knowledge of cloud services and best practices to secure cloud-based applications and infrastructure.
  • Engage in regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
  • When needed, analyze traffic, investigate alerts, set policy and work with other teams to investigate and mitigate security events.
  • Partner with other departments and business units to implement security solutions including project & change management.
  • Triage security testing results and manage security response actions.
  • Assist in compliance activities such as external audits from customers, regulatory compliance projects, and overall information security reviews.
  • Maintain and extend Packback’s GRC platform (OneTrust) to ensure continued control effectiveness

Requirements:

We’re looking for somebody who is independent, self-motivated and eager to grow Packback’s capabilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Information Security or equivalent experience.
  • Comfort with Linux/UNIX systems
  • Startup or small company experience
  • Minimum 3 years information security engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with Python or bash scripting
  • CISSP or comparable Information Security certification.
  • Understanding of cloud services and security features.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
